P.M. Fusser

My sweet perfect baby started having meltdowns when she was about 3 weeks. During the day she is absolutely wonderful--she eats, sleeps and is just as cute as she can be! I get mentally prepared everyday as if I was part of the TV show Survivor ("Parents Tribe" vs. "Baby Tribe"). I try to come up with different strategies on how to win. "Baby Tribe" consistently out do "Parents Tribe" and she doesn't allow us to forget about her lung capacity. Around 5pm she starts fussing and usually the saga goes on until 10-11pm. Kyle and I have tried pretty much everything to calm her down, but I keep my sanity knowing that it will last 5-6 hours and she'll eventually "pass out" and fall sleep AND that means that I WILL TOO!!
This picture is one of our attempts to get her from stop crying. I was rocking her and making some "white noise" with the hairdryer. Everything works for a little while, but NOTHING lasts for too long. The other day we took her in a car ride for about 15 minutes. She quickly fell asleep in the car and K and I felt like we finally had found a solution for her evenings meltdown. Victory at last! Well, like I said a moment ago...nothing lasts for too long. We got her back into the house and we left her in the car seat (we didn't dare to move our little dictator from her comfortable throne). Within 5 minutes, we heard the dreadful sound that we still haven't gotten accustomed to ...the crying started and our hope of solution had ceased!

Hi Patricia! Ah the dreadful pm fusser. I've heard about that and it starts like clockwork every night. Just know it won't last forever. Have you watched the Happiest Baby on the Block video? The 5 S's? You've got to try it!! My friend had a really colicky baby and she would have to do all 5 S's to get her baby to sleep/calm down. She did a combination of tight swaddle, then put her in the swing and white noise! I'm so glad I found your blog! Saw a link from Anne's blog.
